EU DG XXII - Education and Culture approved - under the Socrates Institutional Contracts signed with the Rectors of the 13 network Universities - the “Advanced Curriculum Development” (CDA) co-ordinated by the University of Rome "La Sapienza", aimed at implementing the “European PhD on Social Representations and Communication” ( contract s n°: IC 29415 - IC 1 - 96-97-98 - ERASMUS - EPS1).

2000-2001

EU DG XXII – Education and Culture – approved under the Socrates Institutional Contract - the “Advanced Curriculum Development - Diffusion” (CDA-D) co-ordinated by the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Since then it has been selected as one of the "best practices in Europe” (IC 29415 - IC 1 - 99 - ERASMUS - EPS1). Following the implementation of the project’s multiyear programming in the framework of ERASMUS PIC (1993-1996) , SOCRATES-CDA 1996-2000 – implementation phase and CDA-D (2000-01), dedicated to the project’s development and diffusion, the European doctorate became a fully implemented project that continues to move forward, and has become a long-term acquisition thanks to the contributions of the Socrates program and the Marie Curie Multipartner Organisation. The 13 universities in the network have pledged to a “shared commitment” in the development of activities and other approved programs linked to the European doctorate

 

So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork

The EU DG – Education and Culture has designed the So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork as a representative of the social sciences.  The objectives of the So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork are: 1) to establish a ” network of networks”’ to enhance co-operation between the already highly recognized European Doctorate on Social Representations and Communication Network and academic, professional, international and commercial institutions throughout Europe and around the world, including achieving the goal to have all European countries represented; 2) to conduct and disseminate research on societal issues relevant for European policies; 3) to encourage wider application of " best practices" in developing a joint European curriculum for post-graduate students (advanced level +3 of Bologna Declaration ) and to promote harmonisation of European masters curricula in Social Psychology and Communication (level +2) via the "Tuning" approach and methodology; 4) in co-operation with other specialised networks  and organisations, to produce web based multimedia tools to disseminate research of special interest to academics and professionals in the field of Social Representations and Communication; 5) to achieve synergies with other Socrates and Minerva goals  to develop e-learning for distant teaching and tutoring and to transform the current Euro PhD web site into a PORTAL. The So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork also intends to further expand joint programmes producing multimedia research training materials and ODL tools and to disseminate “ Innovative activities ” begun within the Internationalisation program co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Scientific Research and the University of Rome "La Sapienza".  It will also bring into being the E-Library and e-Videoconference Research Training Infrastructure on Social Sciences (E.L.VI.R.T.I.S.S.).

2004-2007

EU DG XXII - Education and Culture – approved the proposal of the So.Re.Com. THEmatic NETwork co-ordinated by the University of Rome Sapienza and - due to its cross-disciplinary nature - it was selected as the representative for the social sciences in Europe (116491-CP-1-2004-1-IT-ERASMUS-TNPP).

2004-2005

E.U.A. approved the project of the Coordinating University of the European/International Joint Ph.D. in S.R. & C. as the main coordinator of action 6 (network of networks) in the framework of the Doctoral Program funded by the European Commission-Education and Culture (agreement n. 2003 - 3304 / 001 - 001 SO2 81AWB)
